Welcome to AR Training & Consultancy. I am Tony Robinson MSc, BSc (Hons), DipSM, a British Army veteran with over three decades of service, retiring as a Captain. Throughout my career, I developed the discipline, resilience, and leadership skills that continue to shape my professional life today.
I served with the Army Physical Training Corps (APTC), specialising in physical fitness, resilience, and combat readiness training, and later with the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) as a Unit Training Officer. In this role, I was responsible for developing, delivering, and assuring training programmes to maintain operational readiness, mentoring soldiers of all ranks, and ensuring compliance with Army standards. I also served as a Unit Welfare Officer, supporting soldiers and their families, which strengthened my focus on wellbeing, care, and resilience.
After leaving the military, I founded AR Krav Maga Self-Defence Training, which grew into a multi-award-winning organisation, empowering thousands of people to feel safer, build confidence, and improve their fitness. I also became an accredited Conflict Management Trainer and SIA Physical Interventions Trainer, delivering safe, professional instruction in de-escalation, restraint, and personal protection.
More recently, I worked in the Middle East with TAG International as a Security Logistics Manager, leading complex operations in challenging environments with a strong focus on safety, readiness, and efficiency. This role expanded my consultancy expertise, giving me first-hand experience of international operations and cross-cultural leadership in high-risk settings.
Today, through AR Training & Consultancy, I continue to share my knowledge and experience. My current work includes teaching Krav Maga, providing 1:1 personal training, and working as a Door Supervisor in Norwich — ensuring my skills remain sharp, relevant, and tested in real-world environments.
I also volunteer as a Norfolk Broads Authority Ranger, helping to protect and preserve our National Park while promoting safety, responsibility, and respect for the environment.
Beyond my professional work, I am a proud husband, father, and grandfather. Family is at the heart of everything I do, and they remind me daily why resilience and readiness are so important. Away from training and consultancy, I enjoy fishing for pike on the Norfolk Broads and mountain walking — pursuits that keep me grounded, focused, and connected to the values I live and teach: Discipline, Resilience, and Readiness.
Choosing AR Training & Consultancy means working with a trainer and consultant who combines 30+ years of military leadership with award-winning experience in self-defence and resilience training. I don’t just teach theory — I deliver skills that are tested, practical, and ready for real life.

Discipline. Resilience. Readiness.
As a professional Door Supervisor, I treat every shift as real-time training. The doors are a live environment where conflict management, de-escalation, control and restraint, situational awareness, and self-defence skills are constantly tested under pressure.
No classroom or textbook can replicate the unpredictability of frontline security work. Working the doors sharpens decision-making, builds rapid response capability, and develops the ability to read situations before they escalate—skills essential for protecting the public, supporting colleagues, and keeping venues safe.
This hands-on experience also feeds directly into my role as a self-defence and security trainer. By operating in real-world conditions, I ensure my teaching is credible, practical, and proven to work under pressure. Students can be confident that the techniques they learn are not theory, but methods forged and tested in live situations.
Authentic security and self-defence training comes from lived experience—the doors and deployments are where actual expertise is built.
